Jesus was born on June 14, 1937, in Fentress Texas to Domingo and Refugia Perez. He was the eldest of 13 children. At the age of twelve, Jesus and his family moved to Casa Grande Arizona, a place that would become central to his life's story.
It was in Casa Grande where he met the love of his life, Tomasa Garcia Pinon. They shared 56 beautiful years of marriage and together raised five wonderful children.
A devoted family man with a tireless work ethic, Jesus dedicated his life to providing for his family. Work opportunities first brought him to Arizona, and later to California, but his heart remained in Casa Grande, where he eventually returned to raise his children surrounded by family.
Jesus wore many hats over the years. He worked the land with his hands, served at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and later built a long career at Hexcel Corporation, retiring after 18 years. During his time at Hexcel, he built many lasting relationships. Jesus built 3 homes for his family, and he was very proud of his construction abilities that he learned from his father. He went on to build J & T Mini Storage with his wife Tomasa. After retirement, Jesus became a well-known local Locksmith operating J & T Locksmith for 13 years and managing J & T Mini Storage. He was a respected and valued member of the community.
A man of deep faith, Jesus loved the Lord with all his heart and was a devout Catholic. He raised his children with strong spiritual values, teaching them to love and follow Jesus. A self-taught musician, Jesus found joy in playing guitar, singing, and songwriting. His music was a gift he shared freely with friends and family, and his guitar was never far from reach. Jesus was a traveling man. He lived for the next adventure whether it was the serene shores of Hawaii or the bustling streets of New York City, he embraced it all. Alongside his beloved wife, he explored countless corners of Mexico, each journey leaving them with new memories and stories to tell. Travel wasn’t just something he did, it was part of who he was. Together, they always looked forward to the next destination, the next experience, the next horizon. Jesus was also an avid reader with a passion for history and current events. He often shared his knowledge through impromptu “mini history lessons,” enlightening and inspiring those around him. He was known for his humor, storytelling, and generous spirit. His infectious laugh, big smile, and endless jokes made him a joy to be around.
Above all, Jesus was kind, genuine, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He never met a stranger and believed in uplifting others. He had a great love for dancing. Whether swift or smooth, Jesus came alive on the dance floor. He danced with joy, grace, and infectious energy, creating memories his family will cherish forever. We take comfort in knowing that Jesus is now dancing in Heaven, reunited with loved ones and surrounded by peace.
Jesus is survived by his companion Alicia Martinez. His five children, all from Casa Grande, 3 sons Jesse (Eithne), Johnny (Rosa), Enrique (Kristi) Perez, 2 daughters Gloria (Raul) Ochoa and Nikki (George) Burns. Jesus was very proud of his 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Jesus was preceded in death by his beloved wife Tomasa Perez, his grandson Tanner Perez, his parents Domingo & Refugia Perez, brothers Joe and Ernesto Perez and sisters Lupie Nava, Lecha Anchondo and Connie Guerrero.
