

John "Lindy" Daugherty was born on July 21, 1949 in San Diego, California to John Wilson "Johnny" Daugherty and Betty Jo Honeycutt Daugherty. For the first 5 years of his life, they lived in San Diego on Mission Beach. The family of 3 moved to Maricopa, Arizona in 1954.
Lindy went to Maricopa Schools from first grade through high
school graduation in 1967. He was active in school sports, band and student council. Lindy attended the Church of Christ in Maricopa; a church that his parents had helped establish. Lindy lived the majority of his life in Maricopa.
After high school, Lindy attended Mesa Community College, Arizona State University and also joined the Army. Following his schooling and Army enlistment, he taught in Maricopa Schools for nearly 30 years.
As a graduate of ASU, he was an avid, lifelong Sun Devil fan
and followed Arizona State football faithfully. He had season tickets for decades. Children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews all attended games with him. His love of ASU football has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. We bleed maroon and gold!
John Lindale Daugherty was preceded in death by his parents; Johnny and Betty. He is survived by his children; Kristin Daugherty, Lisa Daugherty DeBoy, (Jim), Steven Daugherty, (Autumn) and Kevin Daugherty, grandchildren: Reilly, Devyn, Camryn, Tatum, McKenna, Amie, Kasidee, Olivia, Jameson and Zoey. He is also survived by his sister; Dawn Daugherty Sullivan, brother; Mark Daugherty, many family members and his wife Beverly.
Lindy lived a long and fulfilling life. He loved his faith, family,
friends and teaching. After a brief and sudden illness he passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2025 at the age of 75. He is gone but will not be forgotten. Rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held in Casa Grande, Arizona, at the Church of Christ 805 E. Racine Pl. on Tuesday, May 27, 6-8 pm.
