Betty Lou Neal

Betty L. Schwope Neal formerly of Wathena, Kansas went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. She was born to the late George and Leona Meugniot Schwope on October 5, 1931 on a farm in the Mt. Airy School district and was schooled there. She graduated from Wathena High School. In her early years she worked for the Navy, Air Force and IRS. Her last years she worked for Hartford Insurance in Denver Colorado. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Gaither, and many aunts and uncles. Mrs. Neal is survived by her husband, Willis E. Neal and her 3 children, Cher Gaither of Castle Rock Colorado, Deb Polk of Littleton Colorado and Mark Neal of Baltic Ohio. She had 7 grandchildren, Shonna Lynn (McFarland) Gibreal, Matthew Robert Polk, Brandon Neal and Kensey Lee Gaither, Jamie Lynn Neal, Tracy Lee Neal and Kelly Dian (Neal) Ott. Additionally she had 5 great-grandchildren, Mason James Gibreal, Bryson Luke Gibreal, Dawson Neal Gibreal and Kaylee Renae Gibreal, and Madison Grace Polk.

Mrs. Neal was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 161. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Bible Study Group in Castle Rock Colorado. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, painting and all kinds of needle work. She had many hobbies. She also had a great love for animals. She will be greatly missed by her husband and family. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Mortuary from 5:00pm through 7:00pm on Monday, March 17, 2014. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date at the St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph Missouri.
