Clora Marie Martinez

Clora Marie Martinez, age 84, of Castle Rock, Colorado passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024. She was born on April 1, 1939 in Trujillo, New Mexico, the daughter of Daniel S. Martinez and Paz Chavez-Martinez. Clora married Bennie Lucero on February 19, 1955 and they celebrated 69 years of marriage together before her passing.

Clora was an active member of the Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking. Her greatest time was the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Clora is survived by her husband Bennie Lucero; children Danny Lucero of Loveland, CO, Mable Van Maldeghem and husband Todd of Castle Rock, CO, Bennie Roy Lucero and wife Dorene of Montrose, CO, Gina Byargeon and husband David of Toccoa, GA, and Bernie Lucero of La Junta, CO; 16 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Clora is also survived by her siblings Louise Ortega of Brighton, CO, Gloria Trujillo and husband Alfred of Las Animas, CO, Connie Foster of La Junta, CO, Reynoldo Martinez and wife Marina of Delta, CO, and Richard Martinez of Booker, TX.

Clora was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Paz, and her sisters Helen, Inez, and Maxine.

A visitation for Clora will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, CO 80104,with a time for sharing of memories from 2:00-3:00 PM. A reception will follow at Mable's home following the visitation services at the funeral home.
