A beautiful, warm, passionate and artistic woman left us on February 15, 2025. Di was a bright star, with a beautiful smile, who lit up a room and could be friends with everyone. She is missed so much.
Diana was born on November 24th, 1961 in Wichita, KS to Edward and Karen Harper. She was one of two children; the older sister to her ornery little brother, John. They were very close throughout their lives.
The family moved to Brighton, CO when she was 7 years old, and a few years later, moved to Castle Rock, CO. She attended Douglas County High School, worked and raised her three children; Jessica (Jess), Zachary (Zac) and Zebulon (Zeb). Nothing made her more proud than her kids- they were her world; she lived for them. She never hesitated in making sure each of them had what they wanted and needed and always pushed them to be the best they could be—and to truly be themselves.
As a single mom for many of those years, she juggled several jobs to make sure the kids were taken care of. She worked in many of Douglas County’s restaurants on the waitstaff and as a bartender, including Pegasus, B & B, and Johnson’s Corner. She also worked as a bus driver helping kids with special needs and created long-term relationships with them.
She was a “second mom” to many of Jess’s high school friends, with an open door policy any time they needed support. She welcomed them all to her house until troubles blew over. She continued being a “second Mom” with friends of the “Z Boys”. She was a mom to many!
And then, the cherry on top…. she met the love of her life in 1993, Peter Locke, and they married in 1998. The family moved to Franktown, CO. They built a great life together, including many family adventures and romantic getaways. Peter quickly became a very integral part in all three of the kids’ lives making sure they all continued on the independent paths Di had created for them.
Di was a natural artist- always creating and visualizing. She pursued that love in college and graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art with her Associates Degree in 1994. Di used her skills and talents in many artistic endeavors, including custom jewelry, photography, menus, logos, and brochures. If you needed something creative and artistic, she was the one; she put all of her love and imagination into making it perfect.
Di loved being a grandma (a very young one too!). Zac and his wife (Jessica) gave her the first grandbaby, Hannah, in 2011 and a second one, Noah, in 2013. She was officially- “Ma Guy”. (Hannah gave her the nickname “Ma Guy” because she couldn’t say Ma Di- so it quickly became Ma Guy). Di loved it and it’s on her Subaru license plate. Those kids gave her so much joy! She enjoyed helping pick them up from school, being creative with them on projects and having them down to Franktown for plenty of splashy pool days.
Di was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Joyce Harper and her brother, John Edward Harper.
Di is survived by her father, Edward Gus Harper, her husband, Peter B. Locke, her children, Jessica Lottridge (Ed), Zachary Ramsour (Jessica), and Zebulon Ramsour, and grandchildren, Hannah and Noah Ramsour.
With much gratitude and love, we thank you and say goodbye to Mom, Diana, Di, Sweetsie, Mama, Ma Guy, Grandma, Kid, Sis, for making all our lives fuller and happier. We will see you again someday. We love you, Mama.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer. Details to come.
