Thanks to Greg and Ellie, I became a lifelong Town Class Sailor. Peace and Blessings, Love Bill Heffernan

I grew up with the Lindin Family in Wellesley, and they hold a special place in my heart. After I graduated college, Greg and Ellie took me under their wings, introducing me to their sailing activities at Lake Massapoag in Sharon Massachusetts. That year Ellie had to take the summer off so I filled in for Ellie as Greg's crew, and off we sailed ! At the end of each racing day Greg and I would return home to the always smiling and enthusiastic Ellie who would intently listen to the events of the day and give us that Ellie expression, "That's Great".  At the end of the season Greg and Ellie encouraged me to find a boat for myself so that I could race with and against them. Over the course of the next three years I would spend hundreds of hours with Greg and Ellie as we restored a my wood  "Town Class". And after each day of work repairing the boat Greg and I would return to Ellie, who would sit us down for refreshments and Cerveza  and always listen intently with that big smile and  give us the  "That's Great". Ellie's enthusiasm for life will always live in my heart, and inspire me to stay positive, enthusiastic, and keep smiling like Ellie.

I’d like to share two snapshot memories of Ellie:

During the time that Ellie and Greg lived in our Perry Pines neighborhood, she visited my mother during her long illness— playing scrabble ; bringing  kindness and brightening  Mom’s days. 

In more recent years, when  visiting her with KZ King, I played flute music   Her radiant smile of appreciation lit up her face and touched my heart. What a joy to know her!

I take this moment to thank the Lindin family for being one of the key reasons we've found a home at New Hope Presbyterian.  Greg and Ellie were an inspiration to me personally growing up in a Catholic tradition, making our experiences at church together so genuine, so authentic. 

I'll always be greatful to Greg as one of my mentors maturing as an adult and father and for the love Ellie always showed that made their marriage so inspiring to me.

God speed and love to them both.
