Elizabeth Nordon Marens, 68, of Castle Rock, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished sister, and loyal friend whose smile, warmth and generosity touched everyone she met.
Elizabeth was born in Biddeford, Maine, on July 21, 1957. She grew up with a strong sense of curiosity, creativity and determination that guided her throughout her life.
She graduated from Page High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, and later earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from High Point University.
On March 22,1986, Elizabeth married the love of her life, Peter D. Marens, in Ormond Beach, Florida. Their marriage of nearly four decades was filled with deep love, laughter, and steadfast partnership.
Together, they built a home filled with memories, that welcomed family, friends, and anyone in need of a place at the table.
Elizabeth enjoyed a successful career in marketing and finance, culminating in many proud years with Verizon and KPMG where her professionalism and dedication were widely admired.
After her corporate retirement in 2015, she embraced her creative entrepreneurial spirit and pursued her lifelong passion for fashion and jewelry design.
Thrift stores around town quickly came to know her by name as she transformed found treasures into beautiful, vintage one of a kind creations.
Elizabeth believed there were “no strangers, only friends you have not met yet,” a sentiment that perfectly captured her open heart and welcoming nature.
Her kindness was infectious, and it wasn't unusual to find a new friend at the dinner table, sharing one of her famous home cooked meals and the comfort of her listening ear. Those who knew her will remember her generosity, love of life, God, family and friends, along with her ability to make everyone feel valued.
She found great peace in nature!
Her love of the beach forever combing for shells and spending endless hours in her Zen garden, carefully tending each plant and stocking offerings for her favorite visitors—colorful butterflies and busy hummingbirds. That quiet sanctuary reflected her own spirit: calm, vibrant, and full of life.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Peter D. Marens; her pride and joy, son Paul Daniel Marens and wife Pamela, of Castle Rock; her sister, Carol Nordon Johnon and husband Norman, of Alexandria, Virginia; Mr. Andrew Nordon and wife Bobbie of Danville, Virginia; Richard Nordon and wife Masako; nieces and nephews; extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, Virginia and Ernest Nordon of Tallassee, Alabama.
