Eugene Jean Hevey

He was born February 2, 1929 to Ferdinand and Emma (Paquin) Hevey in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was married for 50 years to Cecilia Alberta (Gawthrope) Hevey, also of New Bedford. They were married on July 15, 1952, in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving 20 years. He then worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. He and Cecilia were active members of Church of the Ascension in Virginia Beach, and were members of the Rainbows senior group. They raised their family in Virginia Beach. Eugene enjoyed his family, making puzzles, and taking cruises with Cecilia.

He is survived by his 3 children; Debra Hevey MacDougall of Castle Rock, son Bruce Hevey and his wife Kathy of Virginia Beach, and daughter Dolores Hevey Atwood and husband Eric Atwood of Castle Rock; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephen, Meghann, Kaitlin, Alex and Jason; 4 great-grandchildren, James, Jordan, Oliver, and Jack; his sister Cecile Rua of Riverside, Rhode Island and brother Normand Hevey of New Bedford; cousins Barry and Brian Gawthrope of Massachusetts as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cecilia, his parents, his grandparents, and his sisters Rita, Theresa, and Claire.

The family will gather on Thursday, July 7 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel in Castle Rock, Colorado.
