Evelyn Adele Thorpe

Evelyn Adele Thorpe was born July 28, 1926 in Oak Lawn, Illinois to Joseph and Angela Slowinski. After a long, fulfilling life, Evelyn passed away May 19, 2021 at her residence in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Evelyn grew up on a rural farm in Illinois with six brothers and two sisters. She loved school, but she was unable to continue her education at the high school level due to family hardship and began working for Pepsodent. In 1945, Harold while he was on leave from the U.S.Navy while his ship was in New York Harbor for repairs and went to visit family in Illinois. A fateful meeting at a local dance led to a June 22, 1946 wedding at St. Gerald Catholic Church in Oak Lawn.

Evelyn and Harold were blessed with five children – Barry, Wayne, Roger, Gail, and Glen. Harold preceded Evelyn in death on August 24, 1991. Her passing leaves a large family that will miss her dearly. In addition to her five children, she leaves eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition, two of her siblings mourn her loss – Bob Slowinski of Arkdale, Wisconsin and Ruth Kirk of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
