Gayle Lois Emmons, was born to Lucille and Erwin Horwarth on August 15, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was raised primarily in the suburb of Mount Healthy; attended high school there and was involved in modeling, theater and music, playing the piano and singing. She met Robert (Bob) Emmons in high school and married him March 23, 1956. Gayle pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education, completing her degree at the University of Cincinnati, while Bob was in Vietnam. She eventually completed her Master's Degree in Education at Troy State University in Alabama. Bon and Gayle had two children, Erin Emmons Cook, and Martin Robert Emmons, who preceded her in death. To Erin and her husband Tom, she was beloved "Mother" and mother-in-law, Gayle; "Mom" to Martin and his wife, Jill. She was known as "Grandma" to two granddaughters, Abigail (Cook) DeVries and her husband, Bryson; and Marianna (Cook) Walsh and her husband, Adam. Two great-grandchildren, Talia and Lucian DeVries, called her "GiGi." She was a consummate Air Force wife, traveling to many, many assignments: teaching, picking up stakes, creating 'home' wherever the family landed and gracing hundreds of lives with her beauty, kindness, wisdom, strength humor, and love, through steadfast faith in her Lord, Jesus. Struggling courageously with multiple medical issues (not Covid), Gayle went to God peacefully on June 27, 2021 at Holly Creek Assisted Living where she had lived with Bob.
Deeply missed, but not lost in Christ, Gayle will be laid to rest at Emmaus Anglican Church in Castle Rock, CO on July 24, 2021 at 10:30 AM.
