Gerald (Jerry) Loos, aged 71, of Castle Rock, Colorado, sadly left us on February 11, 2024, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his spouse LouAnn; adult children Zach, Lindsay, Heather, Ben, and daughter-in-law Melissa; grandsons Christian and Jordan; his mother Pat; sister Kristi; brother Craig; and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his father Richard.
Jerry served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran. Jerry was employed with the phone company and retired after a 47-year career. He was very skilled as a customer data technician, and his expertise was frequently sought after within the company. One of his treasured work memories was installing and maintaining the many phone lines that were required when Pope John Paul II visited Denver and officiated Mass at Cherry Creek Reservoir in 1993. Jerry was a family man and avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing with his family. He was most proud of his parents’ mountain cabin near Fairplay, Colorado, which he took over after his father’s death. A favorite pastime was the many long discussions with his mother about historical events; they both loved to share their wealth of knowledge with each other. After 40 years attending Mass with his family, Jerry became a Catholic in 2017. This was one of his most treasured achievements.
On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM a visitation and rosary will take place at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel in Castle Rock, Colorado. A funeral Mass will be held in Jerry’s honor at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Castle Rock, Colorado at 10:00am on Thursday, February 22, 2024, with a reception at the church to follow. Jerry’s final resting place will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
