Jacklyn Lissette Toomey, lovingly known as Jackie, passed away on April 21, 2026, at the age of 87. She was born on September 29, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, and later moved to Colorado to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and beloved granddogs—something that brought her immense joy in her later years.
Jackie dedicated much of her life to caring for and shaping young minds. She worked as an elementary school teacher and later continued her passion for early childhood education in a local preschool program. Teaching wasn’t just her profession—it was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her belief in the importance of kindness, patience, and curiosity.
At home, Jackie created a space that was always warm, welcoming, and full of life. She had a gift for hosting, bringing family together for holidays and celebrations that will be cherished memories for years to come. She took joy in making sure everyone around her felt comfortable, cared for, and included.
Jackie never met a stranger. She had a natural ability to connect with people, often striking up deep and meaningful conversations with those she had just met. Her vibrant personality, quick wit, and genuine interest in others made her the life of any gathering. She loved to entertain, laugh, and bring people together—leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and connection. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Jackie is survived by her devoted husband, Neil Toomey, whose partnership and love were the foundation of her life for 65 years. She also leaves behind her son, Brian Toomey, his wife Megan, and their children Brenden and Caitlyn (along with their dog, Maisie); and her daughter, Susan Joiner, her husband Brad, and their children Ethan and Liam (and their dogs, Leroy and Bama); sister Karen Lober; brothers Richard (Cheryl) Schrenker and Ronald (Teresa) Schrenker; nieces Sherry (Jeff), Denyse (Taylor), and Dana (Nathan); nephews Grant, and Eric (Edana); and great-nieces and nephews Jake, Jaimie, Jacie, Ziah, and Zander.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Ursul Schrenker; and brother-in-law James Lober.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church in Castle Rock, CO on May 13th at 12:00pm. A private interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery will follow.
