Jessica was born in Englewood, Colorado to Gene and CarolAnn Langfeldt on March 21, 1985. She graduated from Douglas County High School in 2003, where she met her future husband Michael Haverkate. Jessica graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Economics and Political Science. She married Mike on July 17, 2010.
Everyone that met Jessica really knew her. She was not false, she did not lie, she didn’t keep up pretenses or masks. The love you saw her pour out over her family, friends, and strangers alike was completely genuine. She was truly a reflection of God’s own heart and exemplified his love and kindness to all of his Creation.
As a wife she was devoted, loving, patient and kind. She filled her marriage with warmth, smiles and life. She fit more life into her five years with Mike than most people fit into a lifetime. And though her time was cut short, she leaves behind countless memories.
Jessica would often be found working on a project or a craft, and enlisting the help of those around her. Jessica was passionate about Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, and bribing her dog Trigger to participate in elaborate, creative photo shoots. She loved to go hiking and she and Mike would spend many weekends exploring God's beautiful creation. There was a drive to her that should light a fire in all of us. She made every moment count and made every memory a treasure.
Jessica Haverkate spent the last 8 years championing Life, marriage and religious freedom in the state of Colorado. The impact she made with Colorado Family Action / CFA Foundation, Pastors, churches, legislators and the general public will carry for many years. She will be remembered as a passionate advocate for Christ in her personal and professional life.
The world is worse for her leaving it, of this there is no doubt. But this world is not the end, Jessica has returned to her Holy Father, her body has been restored and her soul is reconciled with God.
Jessica is survived by her husband Michael, her father Gene, her brother Jordan, her grandparents Nick and Juanita Nacelli, her aunt Nita Nacelli, her loving dog Trigger and many more friends and family. Jessica is predeceased by her mother CarolAnn.
