Born on October 6, 1947, in Superior, Nebraska, Jo was the beloved daughter of Maynard and Hildred (Caldwell) Weeks. She spent her early years and most of high school in Superior before moving to Colorado, where she graduated from Arvada West High School. Jo went on to study Special Education at the University of Northern Colorado before relocating to Lawrence, Kansas to be with her future husband while he attended college. She returned to Colorado a few years later to be closer to family while her husband served in Vietnam.
Jo met the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” Meier, in their hometown of Superior. The two began dating in the 8th grade and shared a beautiful, lifelong love. They were married on June 4, 1968, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Arvada, Colorado. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion to their family, welcoming their daughter Nicole in 1972.
Professionally, Jo worked in the life insurance industry for over two decades before she and Tom made a bold yet fulfilling decision to take over the family hardware business of over 50 years, which they ran together for nearly 16 years until retirement. Her strong work ethic and perseverance were evident in everything she did, and she made a lasting impact on those around her.
Jo was a woman of many passions. She loved scrapbooking, crafting, cooking and baking, entertaining, celebrating holidays, watching movies and traveling. Most of all, she treasured time spent with her family. Her greatest joy was being a grandma to her beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie and Blake. She never missed an opportunity to support and cheer them on at every occasion, performance or sporting event. Jo was their biggest fan, always present with a smile and words of encouragement. Her love for them was deep and unconditional, and she found true happiness in celebrating their every accomplishment.
She will always be remembered for her radiant smile, joyful spirit, sincere heart, and her unwavering dedication to her loved ones. As a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Jo gave of herself freely and fully—always putting others before herself. In every season of life, she carried herself with grace, integrity and resilience. Jo leaves behind a legacy rich with unforgettable memories, enduring faith, and a steadfast example of love and kindness. We could not have asked for a more beautiful soul to guide us—her life was, and remains, a genuine gift to us all.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Hildred Weeks, and her beloved husband, Thomas Meier. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Nicole (Sean) Wilson, and her treasured grandchildren, Mackenzie and Blake Wilson.
