

Joyce Ann Markham, 84, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, in Castle Rock, Colorado. She was born on November 17, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, and lived a life rich in love, learning, and adventure.
Joyce's academic journey began at Baylor University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Her love of music was a defining part of her college years, where she played the saxophone in the Baylor band and was also a Majorette. She later pursued a Master's degree in Telecommunications at the University of Denver, continuing her passion for education and communication.
Known for her zest for life, Joyce found immense joy in her travels and cherished moments spent with close friends on the beaches of Mexico. Her warm heart, infectious laughter, and ability to bring people together made her a beloved presence in the lives of all who knew her.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Sherwood; her daughters, Debbie Markham of Castle Rock, CO, Sherry (Robert) Towns of Chandler, AZ, and Michele (Eric) Gomez of Argyle, TX; her grandchildren, Ryan, Derek, Kaiti, Charlea, Andrew, and Jack; and her great-grandson, Auggie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Elora Oglethorpe, as well as many cherished aunts and uncles.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Joyce's adventurous spirit, joyful presence, and deep love for others will continue to inspire all who carry her memory. May she rest in peace.
