

Katherine Morton Jessup was born on May 5, 1929 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Merle and Helen (Morton) Adams and grew up on the Happy Hollow Ranch near Elizabeth, Colorado. She went to Elizabeth School and attended Colorado A&M now Colorado State University until coming home to care for her mother in her failing health.
She married the love of her life, Merle Jessup on June 12, 1949. Merle and Kathy spent 49 years together. Together they ran Elbert Transfer where Kathy did the bookkeeping, raised their children, and belonged to Elbert Christian Church. She was active in the Elbert community serving as a notary public for many years. She also was on the Elbert County cemetery board. She was a member of the Elbert Women’s Club and the Ladies Aid at Elbert Christian Church.
Kathy enjoyed playing the piano, painting, and drawing. She had a great love of the outdoors and even a greater love for birds and cats.
As we mourn her loss, we are blessed that she is in a special place, Heaven.
She leaves behind her children, Don Jessup, Debra Ureel, Diane Jessup and Karen Nelson; her grandchildren who loved her quirky ways, James, Jo and Paul, Ray and Desirae, Ashlee and Ryan and Scotty; great-grandchildren Ashlyn, Taylarae, Lydia, Kate, Emmett and Laney as well as a niece, five nephews and dear friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the Elbert Christian church at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 13,2022 with minister Roger Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Elbert Cemetery following the services and a light lunch at the Elbert Christian Churh.
