Kathy was born on April 28, 1943 in El Dorado, Kansas. She was the daughter of Tilford and Una Tucker. She was “Sis” to her two late older brothers, Tippy (Sherry) and Terry (Kathleen) Tucker. She was the childhood sweetheart and wife of 57 years of Tom. She was the devoted mother of Tim and his wife Stacie, and Julie. She was the doting Nana of her 3 granddaughters, Kylie, Lindsey, and Isabella. She was the aunt of numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was the dear friend of many. Family and connection to loved ones meant everything to her.
Kathy was so proud to be a registered nurse (RN). She graduated from Wesley Medical Center School of Nursing at Wichita State in Kansas and she received a BS in Allied Health from Colorado Women’s College at the University of Denver. She worked in hospitals across Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and California in the areas of the E.R., Surgery, Orthopedics, and Pediatrics, just to name a few. After Tim and Julie were born she did volunteer nursing through her church and at the kids' schools. Later in life Kathy began a second career as a certified massage therapist (CMT) that she felt was an extension of her nursing, attending Colorado School of Healing Arts in Evergreen, Colorado, and building a thriving therapuetic massage practice of 25+ years.
Kathy, ever the nurse, was always caring for and about others more than she cared about herself. Even during her final days, she wanted to know how her family and friends were doing. All who met her and that knew her described her as the nicest person they had ever known. She was kind to everyone.
A memorial service with reception following will be held on February 23rd, 2024 at 1pm at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 9203 S University Blvd, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80126. Guests welcome to wear colorful attire if they so wish.
