Lillie Mae Smith

Lillie was a devoted and caring mother but was also a strong willed and independent woman. Lillie had a heart of gold and was a mother to many by being a foster parent. She enjoyed helping children find a loving home that she opened New Outlook, Colorado’s first child placement agency.

In her spare time, Lillie enjoyed playing games, cooking, traveling, and listening to a variety of music. She was a social woman who enjoyed spending time visiting her family and friends. Lillie also enjoyed spending time in Cripple Creek and watching game shows.

Lillie leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughters Janelle Carter and husband Clark and Sheila Wheeler; and son Akai Clifford; grandchildren Taylor Hickerson, Alexis Kearns, Tierra Carter, Dominique Clifford, Charron Mathis, Paris Mathis, and Terrance Mathis; great grandson Shawn Casto; godchild Beatrice Turner; and her brother Marvin Randell. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kimberly Wheeler, grandson Clark Carter III, and siblings Arlester Randell, Edie Mae Randolph, and Georgia Bell Randell.

A celebration of Lillie’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel in Castle Rock. A repass will follow the celebration at the funeral home.
