Born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 15, 1945, to John M. Jaeger and Sara J. Martarano. Lynn had one older brother, Jack Jaeger, who died at approximately 21 years of age. Both of Lynn’s parents have also predeceased her.
Lynn was raised in the Edison Park area in the Northwest corner of Chicago and she attended Saint Juliana grade school and Saint Scholastica High School. She then attended University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois, and at Navy Pier in Chicago, and at the University of Illinois medical campus in Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked for several years as an Occupational Therapist at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago and continued her education for a Master’s Degree in Medical Education from the University of Illinois.
Lynn married Donald C. Nord on September 21, 1968, and accompanied him immediately thereafter for his initial year of military service in the U.S. Army. She then returned to work at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago while her husband served one year in Vietnam.
After Don’s active duty military service was completed, Lynn and Don lived 5 years in Rogers Park area of Chicago while he worked as a lawyer and Lynn as an Occupational Therapist. They moved to Wilmette, Illinois, just north of Chicago, in 1974 and remained there for 41 years. During that time, in January 1976, Lynn and Don adopted their first child, David Charles Nord. Two years later Lynn gave birth to their second child, Michael John Nord, on January 3, 1978. They remained in Wilmette until 2015 when they moved to Castle Rock, Colorado, which was close to their two sons who had each settled in Denver. Lynn remained in Castle Rock, Colorado, until her death.
Lynn very much enjoyed outdoor activities including visits to Lake Michigan while living in Wilmette, as well as vegetable gardening. She took up the hobby of raising Bonsai trees, with lessons at the Chicago Botanic Gardens from Japanese masters. Lynn developed a love of trees.
From July 2001, to July 2002, Lynn and Don bought a fifth wheel trailer and a one ton truck to pull the trailer. Each took one year off from work and traveled with their RV throughout the United States and Canada, renting their Wilmette home to a family from England for that one year. Although the trailer and truck were sold immediately when they returned to work full time in July, 2002, they had fond memories of the RV experience and they again acquired a fifth wheel and truck in 2008 to continue travel and camping for holidays and vacations, joining a camping club for monthly planned group trips throughout Illinois and nearby states. Later, the RV camping club activities were resumed in Colorado from their arrival there in 2015 through the time of Lynn’s death in 2021.
Lynn is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, as well as her two sons, David and Michael, and Michael's wife of 11 years, Tricia. Lynn is also survived and will be missed by her husband's five siblings and their three spouses, 10 children, and 9 grandchildren, all of whom attend Nord family reunions regularly.
A Celebration of Lynn’s life will be celebrated with a Memorial Mass at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Castle Rock, Colorado on Tuesday, October 12th at 11:00 AM. Following the Memorial Mass, Lynn will be buried in Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
