Marion L. Surma, age 78, passed away on April 19, 2026. Born in Fürth, Germany on August 20, 1947, she later made her way to the United States, spending 40 years in Chicago—a place she truly loved—before eventually settling in Larkspur, Colorado.
Marion built her working life as a bookkeeper, bringing steady dedication and reliability to everything she did. Through the quiet consistency of her days, she showed a resilient spirit and a compassionate heart that earned the respect of all who knew her.
Marion was married to Michael Surma, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Tom Michals and David Michals (Christy); her grandchildren, William, Tommy, Adam, and Josh Michals; and her great-granddaughter, Maddy.
Marion found comfort and joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a deep love for animals—often preferring their company—and especially adored her cats. She enjoyed spending time fishing, could often be found watching her favorite show, CSI, and had a well-known sweet tooth that brought her plenty of happiness over the years.
She was also known for her feisty spirit and fierce loyalty. Marion protected those she loved without hesitation, and her strength was something her family always felt. When it came to her grandchildren, she held a special bond with each of them—William, Tommy, Adam, and Josh—each one deeply loved in their own way.
Those closest to Marion will remember her as someone steady, genuine, and quietly devoted, yet strong and spirited when it mattered most. Her presence brought a sense of calm and familiarity, and she leaves behind lasting memories in the hearts of her family.
