Richard grew up in Cove, UT helping his parents work their family dairy farm. He graduated from North Cash High School as Class President where he played basketball. He was very popular and made friends easily. He was drafted into the US Army in January of 1962, where he served 2 years and 3 months, and then attended Utah State University with a major in Electrical Engineering.
After going between Utah and Colorado, he finally settled in the Denver Metroplex of Colorado in 1970, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. An avid Denver Broncos fan he rarely missed a game. Richard worked for Harper's Furniture as their vice president and manager until 1982. He was a woodworker who in his free time doubled as a handyman. After leaving Harper's, he went into business with his brother, Jack, putting those handyman skills to good use. Richard had a soft spot for children, spending many hours creating wood toys for Christmas. He also enjoyed making furniture.
Richard is a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He would give the shirt off his back to those in need. He made it his priority to care for others, giving them food when they needed or an ear to listen. He could be stubborn at times but always wanted the best for his family. In his later years he found comfort in spending time with his brother, Jack and his family.
Richard is survived by his son Michael Walker and his wife Jessica; his daughter June Walker; and his daughter Joey Walker; his sister Darlene Hill and her husband Bob, his sister Judy Egbert and her husband Val, and his brother Kent Walker and his wife Nancy; his grandson Ethan Walker, his granddaughter Brianna Bartlett and her husband Aron, his granddaughter Mikayla Walker, his granddaughter Nicole Walker, his granddaughter Brittney Walker, his step-grandson Drew Mears, his step-granddaughter Morgan Mears, his great-grandson Brenley, his great-granddaughter Jaxlyn Ray, his great-granddaughter Abby, his step-great-granddaughter Kinsley, his step-great-grandson Liam and his step-great-grandson Keenan, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
