

William Robert Hartigan III, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025 at the age of 79 in Castle Rock, Colorado. Born on December 30, 1945 in Greenwich, Connecticut. Bill lived a life marked by integrity, generosity, and quiet strength.
Bill was known for his career as an entrepreneurial commercial insurance broker and advisor, approaching everything he did with dedication and care. He took pride in his work and was respected by clients and friends alike. Beyond his professional life, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures: hobbies like cheering for the Broncos, travel, learning about new tech gadgets, golf and enjoying good food and wine. He loved cooking a meal with Sandy and sharing it with good friends and family. He loved playing strategy board games with his children and later grandchildren and friends. Later in life, above all, he enjoyed spending time with Sandy and his grandchildren.
Family was at the center of Bill’s life. He is survived by Sandy Hartigan, his second wife, and his two children, Kerry Gilmartin and Keith Hartigan and his brother Phil Hartigan. He was previously married to Mary Ann Hartigan. He is also survived by six grandchildren who all live nearby in Colorado: Griffin, Willow and Charlie Gilmartin and Hayes, Noah and Esme Hartigan. His family will forever cherish his wisdom, humor, and unwavering support.
Those who knew Bill will remember his personal qualities—honesty, kindness, reliability, wit, curiosity. His spirit lives on in his family and the many lives he touched.
