

Catonsville, Maryland. Born on October 7, 1938 in Mazzarra, Sicily, Anna
dedicated her life to education and family, touching the lives of many with
her loving, compassionate, and devoted nature.
Anna pursued a Master's Degree in Education at Hunter College, which
fueled her lifelong passion for teaching languages. She shared her
knowledge and love for language, and influenced countless students as a
professor at Loyola University, Notre Dame College, and Towson
University, in addition to high schools in New York City.
Anna's hobbies included gardening, solving crossword puzzles, and
cooking; activities that she not only enjoyed but also used as a means to
gather and nurture her family and friends. Her home was often filled with
the delicious aromas of her cooking, the beauty of her plants and garden,
and the laughter of her loved ones gathered together.
She is survived by her husband, Valerio Barresi; daughters, Marie Canedo
(Jay) and Nancy Strigle (John); grandchildren, Mikaela Canedo, Matthew
Canedo, Ben Strigle, and Alex Strigle; sister, Carmela Pavia; and
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Connie Barresi, along with many
nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her parents,
Nunziata Baglione and Luigi Calcagno.
Services will be held at Witzke Funeral Home in Catonsville, MD. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research
Hospital or a charity of your choice in Anna's name, continuing her legacy
of compassion and support for those in need.
