

Barbara (Bonnie) Ellen Walsh Lomonaco, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on September 23, 1941, in Newark, NJ to the late John and Veronica (nee Sofranko) Walsh. Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband, Samuel Lomonaco, their daughter, Catherine Lomonaco, her brother George Walsh (Robyn), her nephews Jonathan Walsh (Melissa), Sean Walsh (Mishelle), nieces Meghan (nee Walsh) Kenst (Jeff), Kathleen Walsh, Bridgid (nee Walsh) Smedley (Thomas), numerous great nieces and nephews, as well as, many dear cousins from the Froelich, Sofranko and Pitt families. In addition to her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by her brother Jack Walsh. Also, to be mentioned are Chan (Timothy) Tranh and Hien (Teddy) Pham, whom Bonnie fondly referred to as her “adopted sons.”
Bonnie attended Saint Vincent Academy, graduating in 1959, and then going on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Saint Elizabeth College. She then obtained a Master of Education degree from Rutgers State University in 1976. She was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi honorary society in 1977. She was a passionate educator of English as Second Language (ESL) in Maryland, retiring from the Maryland Montgomery County Public Schools in 2002 after over 16 years of service.
Bonnie was a devout Catholic, who practiced and lived her faith every day. She was a compassionate Christian woman who never hesitated to help those in need.
Bonnie and Sam made their home at Charleston Senior living residences in Catonsville, MD, where Bonnie formed many close friendships and thoroughly enjoyed her Art group, social activities, and the fun and laughter of community life. She was also a member of the Mermaid Book Club.
Bonnie and Sam traveled extensively around the globe. They traveled to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Vietnam, also spending an entire year in Turin, Italy.
Bonnie’s kindness, sense of humor, resilience, and innate style were matched only by her unwavering love for her family and friends. Bonnie, you will forever be a light in our lives and the beat in our hearts. No more sick days. All is calm, all is bright. Sleep in heavenly peace.
On Saturday, January 24th, 2026, at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD 21228, the family will be receiving guests at 10:30am, followed by the funeral mass at 11am, and a reception afterwards.
