Barbara Nopulos Harris, was born on December 4, 1945 in New York City and passed away peacefully at home on January 23,2026. She was reunited with her husband, the love of her life, Uriah (Lucky) Harris, born July 14, 1942 and passed away on May 5, 2024.
They were married for 35 years. Even though they faced the challenges posed by having Cerebral Palsy, they set goals and achieved them. Barbara was determined to be independent. With the assistance of the United Cerebral Palsy she lived independently, secured a job at Goodwill Industries, and through the social center at UCP she met Lucky and they married.
Together they advocated and petitioned for the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and celebrated when it was passed.
They happily traveled to Florida, Nashville, New York City, and Toronto. Barbara was so very proud of her Greek heritage, and enjoyed a trip to Greece with her family. She toured and connected with relatives that otherwise would be strangers. Barbara and Lucky also shared the enjoyment of playing Bingo and the socialization and entertainment it provided.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Angelo and Virginia Nopulos, and many aunts, uncles and cousins whom she adored. She is survived by her sister, Diane, and brother in law Jerald Puigdomenech.
Uriah is predeceased by his parents, Ethel and David Harris.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Danny Smith. He cared for Barbara and Lucky for more than 25 years with compassion, support and unconditional love. There is a quiet comfort knowing there are people like Danny who care so deeply for others, and for this we are eternally grateful.
