Edward Lee Cramer passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and two sons. He was the beloved son of George Hoke Cramer and Madge (Tyler).
Ed was affectionately known as Ed, Mr. Ed, Eddie, Ned, Raul and Ed Lee Crame. In his youth, Ed demonstrated the same discipline and commitment that would define his life, maintaining perfect attendance in Sunday School until the age of 15. He attended the Polytechnical Institute of Baltimore and, after moving to the Randallstown area, attended Milford Mill High School, where he graduated in 1969. Ed proudly served in the National Guard as a Sergeant, Service Battery 2nd Battalion, 110th Field Artillery until his honorable discharge in March of 1975.
Ed later began a lifelong career with C&P Telephone, where he worked for 39½ years through the company’s transitions to Bell Atlantic and then Verizon. He retired in 2009 as an Engineering Assistant (EA). Known for his unwavering dedication he maintained perfect attendance throughout his professional career.
Ed was a man of focused interests and quiet passions. He had a deep appreciation for black-and-white photography and was known in his younger years for enjoying time with friends, a cold beer, and playing softball with a team affectionately known as the Nads. He coached both of his sons in baseball and took great pride in guiding and supporting them. An avid swimmer, he loved spending time in Ocean City, where he was often the first in the water and the last to come out. Regarded by his two sons as one of the best body surfers they had ever seen, he embraced the ocean with joy and confidence. Though soft-spoken by nature, Ed was deeply dedicated and devoted to his family, a steady presence whose love and commitment were felt by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Thompson); his two sons, John Paul Skidmore III (Amber), and Joseph Paul Skidmore Sr. (former wife Alex); and his cherished grandchildren: Joseph Jr., Taylor, Joshua Sr., Alexsandra, Paul, and Trinity. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Isabella and Joshua Jr.
Ed is further survived by brothers-in-law Pat Thompson (Eileen); Mike Thompson (Ginny); and sister-in-law Jennie Mules (Vic deceased).
He is also lovingly remembered by Melony Stehlik, Geoff Robertson and Jordan Robertson, his cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends whose lives he touched.
