Grandad,
You were a man of few words, but your actions spoke volumes. You expressed love by preparing beautiful Jamaican dishes, listening to music that inspired, and spending quality time with those around you. My fondest memories with you were of watching Nascar, picking thoroughbreds with the funniest names, and losing at every game of dominoes. I learned from you. I learned how to listen and observe, that life is complicated and scary, and beautiful and miraculous. Most of all Grandad, I learned that loving family (even with all its crazy) is worth the reward of receiving that love in return. I love you.

Today has been a hard day without you here. I miss hearing your voice. Listening to your stories and just your very presence. I know God will get us all through this trying time but I Miss you every day.

Aitken Family,
" May the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trails", strengthen your family and friends at this time.

In memory of my dear Uncle Doctor, dad's younger brother. As a younger man living across the road from us in Jamaica, I remember you as my quiet and private uncle. I can't remember ever hearing an unkind word from you. You were always polite and soft spoken and a man of peace. 
Later in life, in Baltimore, when we visited some fifteen years ago, my wife and I and kids were so blessed when we woke up that glorious morning to the smells of fry dumplings and ackee, which you dear Uncle Doctor, were lovingly preparing for us.
In these latter years you reconciled with your sisters and reached out to those close to you with a quiet love.
After our visit to Baltimore, you and I, Uncle Doctor stayed in touch by phone for a few years and during those conversations, I could sense a yearning for companionship and camaraderie.
Uncle Doctor, I lost touch with you over the last few years for no fault of your own, but because of my own fault of not finding the time to reach out. You were, however, always in my daily prayers and I know that you are with our Father.
I love you and will miss you, until we will see you again.

Eric, our walk together has been one of challenge and change, but through every moment we found grace in love, laughter and sparks of happiness. No matter the circumstance I was comforted knowing we had each other, I will always love and miss you.

I would like to express my sincerest condolences to your family. May God comfort you, and grant you much peace (Numbers 6:26) may the precious memories shared between you give you much comfort throughout your loss.

Eric AItken is my father-in-law.  He welcomed me into his family with open arms and a strong lesson regarding the care and treatment of his daughter Donna.   I loved him for his open and direct nature.  Respectfully, Michael R Rumke
