James Peter McGinty

James “Jim” McGinty was born on March 15,1962, one of seven children born to John Joseph and Mary (Sweeney) McGinty of Lynn, Massachusetts. Jim was born in Salem, MA. He was raised in Lynn, MA, graduating in 1981 from Lynn English High School. In his 20’s, Jim relocated to Alexandria, VA where he met and married Patricia “Trish” Van Dusen. Together they brought five amazing children into the world.

Jim was blessed with a practical and creative mind. Whether working with Malone Fence Company on the North Shore or later for regional and nationwide distributors of beer and wine in Baltimore, Jim knew how to bring people together and make things happen. In the kitchen, he was a great cook. He loved to experiment with recipes and knew his way around a grill. For a dozen years, he and Trish brought hundreds of friends and family together every Labor Day for a three day pig roast. It was always a celebration and not to be missed, Jim died suddenly on December 19, 2022, He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by Trish and their children, Kelly, Erin, Maddie, Molly, and Jack. He is also survived by his siblings John, Joe, Tom, Terry, and Ann (Collins), his cousins Sean Sweeney and Alice Fraser, many more cousins resident in Ireland and England, as well as eight nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his beloved parents, John J. and Mary McGinty, as well his older brother Michael and his beloved Aunt Nonie.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint John's Church, 9 Glen Road, Wellesley MA on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Lynn MA. In Jim’s memory, donations may be made to the charity of your choice and will be deeply appreciated.
