John Carmen Baronella

John was born on August 18, 1946 in Baltimore, MD to John J. and Katherine Baronella. He is a graduate of Mount St. Joe High School (1964) and received his B.S. degree from the University of Baltimore in 1968. He worked for 40 years for the SSA until his retirement in 2008. On September 7, 1968 he married Diane McCue and they raised two children.

John enjoyed going to church at Grace Bible Baptist, where he was a deacon, and hearing the preaching of God's word first from founding Pastor Earl M. Johnson, Jr., and now from Senior Pastor Jerry Harmon who continues to point people to the saving power of Christ's death on the cross and resurrection. He was very involved with his church family.

John loved playing and watching sports. He rooted for the home teams: Orioles, Terps and especially enjoyed the Ravens (although they aggravated him a lot as well!). He also enjoyed going to and watching his granddaughters Alyssa and Payton play field hockey and lacrosse from their rec team years through college. All of that time he never found one ref that he thought made the right calls!

John was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Katherine; and son, Michael.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane Baronella; daughter, Angela Baronella; his five grandchildren, Alyssa and Payton Baronella-O'Toole, Ronan, Liam, and Teresa O'Toole; and their cousins Kaiya and Aden Sabur; his sisters, Annamarie Santilli and Dolores Tillery; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ken and Janice McCue; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
