On Saturday January 18, 2020 Jon Paul DeCrette, devoted husband and father, passed away at the age of 70. Jon was born in Baltimore, Maryland and worked primarily in the professions of data processing and later real estate. Jon married his high school love, Dorothy “Dot” Rachuba. They recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.
Together they raised their children Jennifer Randle, spouse of Jason Randle and Paul DeCrette, spouse of Nicole DeCrette. Jon enjoyed their five grandchildren: Sophia, Sylvia, and Albert Randle and Jacqueline and Elliot DeCrette. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Martha DeCrette, and by his siblings, Kenneth DeCrette, and Myrna Cunningham.
Jon was known by his many friends and family as a bit of a dabbler: Arbutus Theatrical Company actor and director, painter, poet, musician, food, wine and beer connoisseur and “critic.” He enjoyed baseball, magic, coin and stamp collecting, history, yoga, and movies.
In his early life Jon served as an Irvington paper boy, went to City College, worked for The News American, and served in the United States Navy.
Jon’s family and friends remember him as a loyal family man, who was handsome, silly, funny, charismatic, free with his compliments and generous with his stories.
