Born on July 11, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, Ron was the son of the late Joseph P. Zappacosta, Sr. and Audelia Genco Zappacosta.
He is survived by his loving sons, Ronald Jr. (Tracey) and David (Caitlin); his siblings, Joseph Jr., Mary Jeanne Kushner, and Russell Zappacosta; and his cherished grandchildren—Caitlin, Lauren, Eliza, and Colette Zappacosta.
Ron was preceded in death—19 years to the day—by his devoted companion, Diane E. Kraus.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, 1630 Edmondson Avenue, on Thursday, November 13, from 3–5 PM and 7–9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Monastery, 3801 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD, on Friday, November 14, at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at Druid Ridge Cemetery, Pikesville, MD.
Ron courageously battled COPD for several years, which ultimately took his life. He was deeply grateful for the compassionate care he received from Dr. Anna Gersten and the team at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Breathlessness Clinic.
