On Wednesday, January 27, 2021 Annette Marie West, loving mother of two boys, passed away at the age of 55.
Annette was born on October 23, 1965 in Denver, Colorado to Pete and Marlene West. She was the second oldest of four children and a natural leader. There was not one activity that Annette was not involved in; from a baton twirler in the local parade at age five to a 4-H member of young people across America. Annette was by far the best athlete in the family and loved to ski. While attending Littleton High School, she played varsity basketball, volleyball, soccer, ice hockey and track. She managed to squeeze in riding her bike on the weekends to volunteer to teach young children CCD classes at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Annette was adored by young and old as she touched so many lives with her kind heart. She could light up a room with her radiant smile. One of Annette’s special cousins from Spain would say, “La sonrisa en la boca y la cámara en la mano.” Annette would always have a smile on her face and a camera in her hand. Photography was a true passion for Annette, which meant searching out the scariest forbidden winding road to get the perfect shot. She also loved art and acquired the most outstanding collection through life.
Annette graduated from the Metropolitan State University with a bachelor degree in computer science. After a few years working in the technology field, she was offered a job overseas in Germany. This came at the most perfect time as Annette had so many speeding tickets she was about to lose her driver’s license for seven years. She packed her bags and set off for her next adventure on the other side of the world.
On May 16, 1995 in Düsseldorf, Germany, Annette met her loving husband Luis Miranda. They worked together for several years relocating from Germany to Sweden, Portugal, Poland and Belgium. They enjoyed exploring the world together and became best friends. Annette got to know Luis’ wonderful family from La Rioja, Spain. The two were married on May 4, 2002 in Madrid, Spain.
The next chapter in Annette’s life begins back across the world in Colorado. She was in Europe long enough to get her driver’s license back and she was ready to roll! With her Land Rover, she was on the road every chance touring the US and Canada, blessing people along the way with her love and devotional faith in God.
Annette and Luis were blessed with two amazing sons. Luis Carlos was born September 27, 2004 and Lorenzo Jenaro on October 15, 2007. Her boys were her world as family was always top priority to Annette. She raised two honorable and courageous boys who will continue bringing her light to this world. She was the most loving, caring, generous person and a true blessing to all who knew her.
Annette will be deeply missed by her husband Luis Miranda, her sons Luis (Luisito) and Lorenzo, her mother Marlene West (DiSalvo), her siblings Diane West, Theresa West Keane and husband Eric, Peter West and wife Brenda, her mother-in-law Maria Luisa Gutierrez, and many friends and family members. Annette was preceded in death by her father Pete West, and father-in-law Jenaro Miranda.
