

He attended and graduated from MacArthur High School as valedictorian. Played the piano and flute, was part of the band, played basketball, was a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduation he pursued a degree in math and physics at the University of Texas in Austin. With this degree he was offered a teaching position at the University of Wisconsin and he also attained his Masters in math. Martin Marietta then hired him for a job in Baltimore which his project was completed in a year and then proceeded to Denver to work . In 1969 he married Chris Moench In San Antonio. Daughters Laura and Leah were born in the Denver area. Chris and AC split ways in 1986. AC kept in close touch with his daughters helping whenever possible. In 1990 he married Marie Pierce. In February of 1999, he retired from Lockheed Martin. April of 2002, AC was mountain biking with friends in Moab UT where he had an accident. Five months were spent in the hospital of which the last 3 were spent rehabbing at Craig Hospital where he learned to walk again. He returned home Sept. 19 but continued months of outpatient physical therapy.
AC’s interests included biking. He completed many week long cycling trips through the mountains with Ride the Rockies and Petal the Peaks. He loved to bowl, worked on his model trains, was a ham radio operator and loved working on his computer, building several of each. He was involved with the church and helped with many activities.
AC is survived by his wife Marie, daughters Laura Hegarty and Leah Rader (Mike), stepson Richard Pierce. Grandchildren, Alexis and Sophie Hegarty, Alison and Logan Rader, step grandsons, Tyrus and Nolan Pierce. Sister Clareen Hencey, nieces and nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arno and Lucille Serold and son-in-law John Hegarty.
Services will be held Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m at Christ Lutheran Church, 8997 S Broadway, Highlands Ranch, CO. Viewing at 10 a.m. Light lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Craig Hospital or Love, Inc.
