

Betty H. Scheirman, 92 years old, wife of George Scheirman of 66 years, passed away on December 18, 2014. She was born in Goodland, Kansas, to Harley and Bessie Horner on August 22, 1922, and graduated from Goodland High School and attended Kansas State College. She worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Denver where she met George. They were married February 29, 1948, at the Cameron Methodist Church in Denver. They lived in Fort Morgan for three years, moved to Denver and in 1957 moved to Littleton where George worked for The Martin Co. They lived in the same home In Littleton until they moved to Wind Crest, a retirement community, in 2007.
Betty was office manager for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Colorado and retired in 1986. She was an active volunteer and served for the M.S Society, Town Hall Center, Littleton Manor, Inter-Faith Task Force, Meals on Wheels, Women’s Society at Littleton United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She supported the family in their various organizations—Boy Scouts, P.T.A., Job’s Daughters, and the Littleton Soccer Association. She was very proud of her three sons in attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
Betty and George enjoyed traveling and visited many foreign countries including China, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Germany, Malaysia, Russia, Turkey, Croatia and Hungary. River boat cruising was a favorite traveling mode for them, cruising the Danube, Rhine, Volga, Black Sea, and various ports of call along the way.
Betty, besides her devoted husband, George, is survived by four children; Jaclyn (Ken) Charney, Sandia Park, NM, Lawrence, Aurora, CO, Gerald, (Valerie), Aurora, CO, and Craig (Elaine) Broomfield, CO, along with seven grandchildren, Mat, Tina, Geol, Tracey, Daniel, Jonathan, and Madison; 5 great grandchildren, two sisters; Wilma Hamilton, Bella Vista, AK, and Annette Jensen, Overland Park, KS and sisters-in-law Irene Greenwald and Sharon Horner. There are also many nieces and nephews, who loved and admired her very much.
Betty and George enjoyed entertaining their family and friends in their backyard and at their mountain home in Bailey.
Betty and George were one of the first to move into Wind Crest, an independent living facility for seniors. Betty will be thoroughly missed. She always had a warm greeting and a pleasant and friendly smile.
Private interment will be held at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 12, 2015, at the Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 S. Datura St., Littleton. With Betty’s love of music and participation in the Littleton United Methodist Church Choir, in lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty’s honor may be made to the Littleton United Methodist Church’s music department.
