
Betty Jo Daly-Van Horsen, age 92, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Centennial, Colorado. Born on July 28, 1933, in Kilgore, Texas, Betty spent much of her life in Orange, Texas, a place that always remained close to her heart.
She was the beloved daughter of Gay Thomas Cartwright and Nina Bell Staples. Betty attended Gregg Business College, where she pursued her education and developed the skills that supported her throughout her life.
Family was everything to Betty. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews, roles she cherished deeply. Her greatest joy came from her family, and her love, strength, and guidance shaped generations.
Betty never missed an opportunity to be involved in her family’s lives. From volunteering with the PTA and Scouts to faithfully attending sports games and dance competitions, she was always present and supportive. She loved the mountains and treasured the time spent sharing the family cabin in Grand Lake, Colorado, creating memories with multiple generations. Betty also loved to travel and did so as often as possible, embracing new places and experiences throughout her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Joseph Daly, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage. She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward Allen Van Horsen, with whom she shared 32 years of marriage.
She is also survived by her children, Robert Allen Daly and his wife Sherie Daly, and Denise Daly-Powell and her husband Garth Powell; her grandchildren, Christa Stewart-Cortez, and Joseph Colin Stewart and his wife Jennifer Stewart; her great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Cortez, Alyssa Cortez, Lillian Stewart, and Malcolm Stewart; and her great-great-granddaughter, Ariana Cortez-Ibarra.
A private graveside service will take place on January 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Olinger Cemetery – Chapel Hill. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in early summer to honor and remember her life.
Betty will be remembered for her deep love of family, her quiet strength, and the enduring legacy she leaves in the lives of those who loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
