Beverly Jane (Brown) Dea passed away peacefully February 21, 2026, in Littleton, Colorado after farewells from her family. She was 98 years old. She was born March 12, 1927, in Worcester, MA to Elizabeth and Dr. Frederick Brown. Her father rode his bike from Westborough, MA to Martha’s Vineyard when he was 14 years old in the late 1800’s, commencing five generations of love for Martha’s Vineyard. He later would start bringing her and sister Donna to the Vineyard when they were 5-7 years old. She and Allen raised their two sons Peter and John in West Boylston, MA and moved year-round to Lake Ave, Oak Bluffs in 1976 where they lived for 23 years. For several years she enjoyed working for Dr. Michael Jacobs who also became a close family friend.
Many a morning and evening were enjoyed in their rocking chairs overlooking Oak Bluffs harbor with family and friends. Playing piano she would initiate singalongs ringing in the nearby Oak Bluffs Campgrounds. An avid swimmer, she was the first one in the water in late spring and last one out in September, swimming from the Oak Bluffs jetty to the ferry slip nearly every day. As she left the beach, she would collect any refuse brought in by the tides. A frequent fan of State Beach, she was an early protector of the shorebirds who nested in the sand grass. Along with her husband, sister and friends she was an enthusiastic scalloper and quahoger in Sengekontacket Pond.
With family and friends, she instilled a love of skiing, wildlife and the great outdoors and savored all that Martha’s Vineyard had to offer. Her passion for opera took her and Allen on many trips to New York City. She lit up a room with her infectious laughter and enthusiasm, always showing a deep sense of curiosity, interest and caring for all who she touched from her oldest to newest friends, making the latter wherever she went. She avidly followed the travel and adventures of her family and friends and was very proud of her families’ accomplishments.
As winters got a bit too harsh, they moved to Beverly Hills, Florida for thirteen years until her husband passed away on December 25, 2016, whereupon she moved to Colorado to be closer to family. Her outgoing and caring nature allowed her to meet new friends in CO.
She is survived by her son Peter (Cathy) Dea, grandchildren Drake, Austin (Monica) and Cort, and great-grandchildren Turner, August and Emma; son John Dea and grandchildren Michelle and Joshua; nephew Allen (Marilyn) Camp and grandchildren Eric, Sarah and Natalie (Ryan) and great-grandchildren Conrad and Odette; nephew David (Aana) Camp, grandchildren Skylar (Haley) and great-grandchildren Raeya and Eli; nieces Cynthia (Barry) Boisvert and Cathy (Jack) Nugnes and their families. She will be interred at Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover, MA next to her beloved husband. Arrangements are handled by Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary in Centennial, CO. Per her wishes no services are planned.
