

Charlene Leedy Gail, 98, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in Littleton, Colorado. Charlene was born on January 8, 1927, in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in South Denver with her parents, Charles and Lena Leedy, and her sister, Marian (Goldsmith). She graduated from South High School in 1945 and then attended Colorado State University, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and earned a degree in Home Economics. She married James Gail on August 27, 1945. James and Charlene taught in Central City and Cheyenne and then spent time in England with the US Air Force before making Denver their home. James and Charlene had four children: Linda (Jones), Lori (Johnson), James, and Lisa (Irving). Charlene was married for over forty years to James, who passed away in 1990. She also had 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker and friend. Her highest priority was always the people in her life; she loved to gather with family, and she also maintained many treasured friendships throughout her lifetime. Charlene worked for the Denver Public Schools as a substitute teacher and in the library services department. She also gave her time to various organizations such as PEO and The Colorado History Museum. She kept active in her later years by participating in Bible studies, book clubs and art classes. Charlene’s genuine kindness, gratefulness and consideration for others made a profound impact on everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her love, generosity and devotion to her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.
