I never met your father but after reading the story of his life, his intelligence, his calm and caring manner in how he dealt with others, his personality traits, etc.   

I wish I had met this incredible man.  You and your sisters are so blessed to have had both of your parents.  I’m sure they made a beautiful couple.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I, too have lost both of my parents so 
I do understand the tremendous loss you must feel.

Our Dad was patient, kind and thoughtful; he was not jealous or envious; he did not brag and was not proud or arrogant. He was not rude or self-seeking; he was not  provoked nor overly sensitive. He was not easily angered; he did not take into account a wrong endured.   He did not rejoice at injustice, but rejoiced with the truth.  He bore all things, regardless of what came; believed all things, looked for the best in each one, hoped in all things.  He remained steadfast during difficult times; endured all things without weakening.  If you recognized these characteristics, you probably know that this is 1 Corinthians 13 (AMP version).  Of course, nobody is perfect, but through our acceptance of Christ and our study of God's word, we can strive to be more like Christ every day.


My Dad was a quiet, thoughtful and simply amazing man.  He was quick to listen and slow to speak.   We knew we could  rely on his solid advice and his thoughtful words of wisdom.  He was "always humble and kind".

He was uber smart and earned his PhD and specialized in things we don't begin to understand.  He simply loved to learn.  He encouraged me to go to college, no pressure, but because he believed I could.   He was always interested in my studies and my teaching/ consulting career.  When my children had graduated and homeschool was complete, I began to think about my next career.  We talked about how I'd like to earn my Masters in Social Work, but I didn't think I could (I graduated college way back in 1987, you know).  He still spoke of his belief in me and was excited to hear about my plans.  

I worked from their house quite a bit in the last several months and he was so proud of the work my team and I are doing as we serve others.  He wanted to know all about it, so that day I fondly remember as, “Take your Dad to work” day.

My Dad was one of the finest example of  unconditional love .  He was rock steady and always there for us.  He supported us in all our endeavors: school, sports, 4-H, raising  Guide Dog puppies and raising our families.  

He loved his grandchildren dearly and accepted my two adopted children as his own.  He loved to play with all of them.  Often he would hold them facing outward and go for a walk showing them the world.  Pointing out and describing flowers, showing them airplanes in the sky, cars in the parking lot, animals that walked or flew by.  He was quite an animal lover and it was not unusual at a petting zoo to turn around and find him having a conversation with a goat.

This saying is my Dad: “Think Deeply, Speak Gently, Love Much, Laugh a lot, Work Hard, Give Freely and Be Kind”.  

Oh, how I miss you, Daddy.  Life is hard without you and Mom.  But I am so happy you are together again in the presence of  The Lord!



Such a humble, gentle, kind, soft-spoken, and brilliant man that I was fortunate enough to grow up with as my Papa. He perfectly exemplified the importance of listening before speaking.
His scrunched face belly laughs would get a whole room cracking up without even knowing what was funny. 
He always desired to be a part of his grandchildren's lives and had the best advice. 
Papa will be forever remembered, and I am honored to be a part of his legacy.
Love you, Papa.

Our Papa was an incredible man. He was excellent in every aspect of his life.  He worked hard and excelled in his career, he loved and led his family with strength and kindness, and most of all, he loved God and sought to do all things for His glory.  

Papa had a calm, reassuring presence about him in the midst of our family’s chaos.  He had a way of making you feel so loved and special. He adored his wife and daughters and the family that kept growing around him with spouses and grandkids. There was no better feeling than having that great of a man look at you and tell you he was proud of you, and he did that often.

He was also brilliant and was the end of almost all of our cousin debates like, which one hits the ground first, a bullet dropped or a bullet shot, or, the classic, is water wet.  Although this is still debated to this day, it was a lot harder to argue with Papa because in our eyes, he knew everything. 

He was filled with so much wisdom that he shared generously. Some of my favorite memories with him were sitting and talking about life. He and nana would talk about how they met, how they knew they were going to get married, and how they lived such a long and happy life together. 

Faithful until the very end, Papa was an example to all of us of what it means to follow Christ.  In good times and in trials he remained strong and joyful because he relied on God.

We miss him terribly, but to have even a fraction of his faith is to know that he is in in the presence of God right now, and he’s with Nana again.  And this goodbye is really just a “see you soon”

I am so sorry for your loss.  I pray for all of you as you adjust to the new normal without your parents.  They were special people and they will be truly missed.  Love and Prayers to you all,  Danny & Kathy 

While both of my grandparents will be dearly missed here on earth, it makes me so happy to think about them back together again and finally able to hear one another! My grandfather was a wicked, smart man, and worked on the space station with all things out–of–this–world and together with my grandmother, they created a beautiful family that is closer with each other than most extended families I know! His legacy lives on each of us, and I cannot wait to be reunited with him and my grandmother someday.

This past Sunday, March 12th, I lost my Papa. I’m heartbroken and devastated because of loosing him, yet full of happiness that he is now in heaven with Nana. 

The amount of inspiration, love, and kindness that he showed to me is beyond what I could ever ask for out of a grandpa. 

He was an incredibly smart, loving, supportive, caring, compassionate, and sympathetic man. 

He was always so proud of me, my accomplishments, and my goals. 

He always loved seeing all the things that I accomplished and won with my horses.

He had the gentlest smile that could light up a room. You couldn’t help but smile when you saw it. 

He had the most generous heart for others, both people and animals.

He loved wholeheartedly and with passion. His example of the perfect husband and perfect Christian radiated through him. 

He was slow to anger, slow to speak, and his words of wisdom were not comparable.

He is deeply and horribly missed. And he definitely left a hole in my heart. 

I love you papa. I’m gonna have to learn how to live without you, and I sure hope that you’ll help me do that from heaven. 

Sharon, Anita, and Diane, I remember your parents fondly from all those years at PBC. Both of them were so friendly and kind. Even after Will and I got married and moved away your Mom always came up to chat with me at church when I was home to visit my parents. My Dad and Will’s Mom have both recently passed also but isn’t it good to think of our parents in Heaven with their Savior and have the hope of being with them again! Love and prayers to all of you.
