A few weeks short of her 95th Birthday, our beloved, nurturing, and generous mom was welcomed into God's presence. Her last moments appeared to be content and peaceful, at home, sitting at the kitchen table, chin down as if she had dozed off, with a carton of ice cream in front of her. Mom always made you feel noticed & loved, and will be fondly remembered for her passion of horses, pets of all kinds, fishing, gardening, nutritional foods, any event involving a family member, the Denver Broncos, and the Colorado Rockies. Married April 25, 1952, Mom & Dad truly lived for the joy of family activities, anything in the mountains, boating, fishing, snow skiing, horses and camping with them in the wilderness, and, most of all, simply spending time with loved ones.
Although born in a Denver hospital, she and her siblings were raised at “the farm,” near Parker, CO, known as the Bell Cross Ranch (namesake of the family cattle brand), where some of our family’s most treasured memories were made with relatives of the Clarke clan. Whether it was riding horses, tending cattle, mending fences, harvesting hay or wheat, or celebrating birthdays and holidays, the farm, and the people there, shaped us all, and was the primary source of mom’s wonderful attributes.
Mom was a homemaker and true partner with dad in their side ventures, including the design and construction of multiple real estate projects, including the four houses they lived in, occupying the first one before their 1st wedding anniversary. These projects demanded their hands-on work in the mornings and evenings of the workweek and throughout weekends until completed. The last small apartment building was retained for an extended period, which was a blessing for the entire family. Successfully raising children, managing real estate, and achieving family fun required effective teamwork. Characteristic of those from the “Silent Generation” (born between 1928 – 1945), mom was resilient, frugal, and deeply devoted to the things and people she believed in.
Mom was preceded in death by our dad, Harold; her parents, Roy & Mary Clarke; her sisters and their husbands, Ruth & Johnny Pogorelz, Wilma & Dick Griffith, and Gert & Andy Kordziel; her brothers, George (Yvonne) Clarke, and Henry Clarke (died the day of birth); and great grandson, Miles Damon (died at birth).
She is survived by us children, David (Barbara) Corah, Rhonda (Steve) Swanson, Bryan (Marsha) Corah, and Danny Corah; as well as grandchildren, Breanna (Cole) Damon, Micah (Srujana) Corah, Tanner Corah, Rebekah (Bryan) Griffith, Christian (Sophie) Corah, and Jessica Swanson; her great grandchildren, Isla Damon, Owen Damon, and Benaiah Griffith; sister in-law, Yvonne (George) Clarke; half-brother, Mark (Barbara) Asmussen; and many nieces and nephews. Thank you, God, for blessing us with such a wonderful mom.
