Delbert Leroy White

Delbert Leroy White was born March 28, 1940 in Akron, Colorado to Leroy "Bill" White and Eleanor Adele Morrison White. He was the first of two children. Delbert attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School with the Class of 1959.

Delbert worked as a newspaper pressman for 38 years working for four community newspapers in Colorado and the Wall Street Journal in Englewood, Colorado where he retired in 2002.

Delbert was in the Air Force for four years as an air policeman. He was stationed in Panama for 2 years then the Upper Peninsula in Michigan for two years.

Delbert met his wife Sherrill Louise Schenk in high school (high school sweethearts) and were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Las Animas, Colorado on October 29, 1961. Delbert and Sherrill had two children, Lee Andrew and Lynetta Suzanne.

Delbert enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, traveling, taking motorcycle trips, and bible studies. Delbert said "I was born to make people laugh" and thoroughly enjoyed humor.

Delbert was preceded in death by his parents Leroy "Bill" White and Eleanor White, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles and one cousin. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Sherrill, his son, Lee and wife, Tammy of Naperville, IL, his daughter, Lynetta White and granddaughter, Megan Lambert of Centennial, his grandson, Joshua Lambert, stationed at Ft. Riley, KS, his brother, Bernard and wife, Carol of San Tan Valley, AZ, several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held at Our Father Lutheran Church at 6335 S. Holly Street, Centennial, CO 80121 on June 2, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Internment will be at the Akron Cemetery in Akron, Colorado on June 2, 2015 at 3:30 PM. Pallbearers will be Lee White, Bernard White, Gale Schenk, Paul Higgins, John Rempe, and Gary Ringo. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Lambert, Robert Schenk, Roger Ashley and David Sharman.
