Born on February 13, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, amazingly enough exactly one week after a baby girl who was born in the very same hospital that would become his wife Jeanette (Burnett) Marshall 18 years later. She remained the love of his life for the next 64 years. He grew up in a family that instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and excellence. He attended Alameda High School with Jeanette, where he excelled in sports and academics.
Starting from building his own very first house, Dennis embarked on a distinguished career in the Custom Home Building industry. First as a day laborer, then as a carpenter, supervisor, and eventually a partner at Vantage Custom Homes. He was named president of Vantage and afterwards Marshall Building Enterprises. Dennis built 100’s of custom homes throughout the Denver Metropolitan area as well as the Rocky Mountains. He was actively involved in the Denver Colorado Home Builders Association (HBA) and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Dennis served as the HBA’s President in 1978 and in 1995 he was recognized with the rarely given Lifetime Achievement Award from the Denver HBA. In 1960, Dennis married the love of his life, Jeanette. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising two children Randy Marshall and Donna (Marshall) Sattler with love, guidance, and unwavering support. Dennis was a devoted father who cherished every moment spent with his children, taught them strong values, and took great pride in their achievements. As a grandfather, Dennis found immense joy in the company of his grandchildren, Danielle (Marshall) Lane, Jaci Sattler, John Marshall, Matt Sattler and Michelle Marshall. His boundless energy and playful spirit endeared him to the youngest members of the family, creating cherished memories. And he was a Great Grandfather to Josephine Lane and Huxley Sattler.
Outside of his professional and family life, Dennis had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He enjoyed sports, both playing and coaching his children. He was also a sportsman and hunted both big and small game and was an excellent marksman and skeet shooter. Whether it was spending time in nature, exploring new places, or simply enjoying his family, Dennis lived life to the fullest and inspired others to do the same. In addition, Dennis was a very devout, born-again Christian. He conducted himself consistent with his Christian faith. He gave generously to his church in Denver and during his three years when they lived in Florida.
