Don earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1957, where he was a member of Theta Xi, Delta Sigma Pi, and Phi Epsilon Phi. On June 9, 1957, he married Grace Marie Barter of Pueblo. That same year, Don was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy, serving aboard a destroyer. They are the parents of two sons, Scott (wife Dawn) and Keith (husband Barry), and grandparents to Bryce (wife Jordan) and Brett (wife Whitney). Professionally, Don worked for Chevron Oil and a mortgage banking firm before serving as Internal Auditor for Denver Public Schools, where he was also the accountant for the DPS Pupil Assistance Fund. A devoted member of Central Christian Church of Denver since 1959, Don served as Chairman of the Congregation, Elder, Trustee, and adult Sunday School teacher for more than 20 years. He found great joy in time spent with family, church activities, and gardening. Don and Grace traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and several international destinations, and were CU Buffaloes football season ticket holders for over 50 years. A memorial service celebrating Don’s life will be held Friday, February 6, at 1:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church, 3690 Cherry Creek S Dr, Denver.
