Doris Mae Miller, 91, of Miami, FL passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. She was born at home in St. Louis, Missouri in 1929 and grew up with a loving family in Missouri. She met Carey J. Miller when they were both in high school, and they married on September 4, 1948, while attending Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri. They graduated from Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas in 1951. Doris attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas and graduated in 1955. After graduating, Doris accompanied her husband, who pastored churches in Texas, Missouri, Alabama, Colorado, and Florida.
Doris was an amazing mother and homemaker while raising three children. Then, she worked as an administrative assistant at Cordis Electronics, a medical device company, before her retirement. She was active in Christian ministry. She taught Sunday School for over seven decades, authored articles about Christian life, led Vacation Bible School sessions in South Africa and other locations for many years, and facilitated meetings for Alcoholics Anonymous as part of a Christian ministry. In addition, she was an expert seamstress and cook and enjoyed watching movies.
Doris is survived by her husband, Carey, of 72 years and her children R. Craig, Carla, Keith and his wife Sherry, grandchildren Mariah and Micah, and sisters Wanda and Glenda. Doris was preceded in death by her parents Robert Lambeth and Florence Lambeth.
