AUX SOINS DE

Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery - Chapel Hill

Doris Lees Robertson, age 92, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado passed away surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Doris was born to Amanda Helen Lees and Edward Andrew Lees in Detroit, Michigan on December 17, 1929. She graduated from Cass Technical High School. As teenagers, she and her sister were raised by their aunt, Ellen Stahlnecker, who was a R.N. and hospital administrator. Her “Aunt Dy” provided a strong role model and influence for Doris to later become a nurse.

In 1951, Doris received a diploma from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan. There she met Ian Keith Robertson, her husband of 24 years. They were married on April 17, 1952. They eventually settled in Loveland, Colorado in 1956, where Ian opened an Internal Medicine practice and they raised their two children.

Doris had various roles at Loveland Memorial Hospital from 1962 to 1976 including Operating Room R.N., and Operating Room Supervisor. She also served in many community volunteer positions including the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Larimer County Visiting Nurses Association, Foothills Gateway Center, and Larimer County Mental Health Clinic. Doris was active in All Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland, singing in the choir and serving on the Altar Guild. She completed post graduate work in Operating Room Nursing & Administration from Baylor University Medical Center in 1974.

After her divorce in 1976, she moved to Houston where she was employed by Methodist Hospital. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Texas Women's University (TWU) in 1978, and completed Master’s coursework in Healthcare Administration from TWU in 1986. She had various roles at Methodist Hospital including Operating Room R.N., Assistant Director of Operating Rooms, Manager for Operating Room Business and Finance, and Acting Manager for Home Healthcare.

In 1994, she retired, moving to Albuquerque where she enjoyed her hobbies of cooking, baking, reading, gardening, learning about the southwest, and attending the Santa Fe Opera. In addition, she traveled to all major continents including Antarctica on many bird-watching trips. In 2005, she moved to Littleton, Colorado to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen Florence Abdou, and her former spouse, Dr. Ian Keith Robertson.

Doris will be greatly missed by: her two children, Dr. Ian Douglas Robertson (Christine) of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Heather Anne Robertson (Robert) of Cowpens, S.C.; her two grandchildren, Jason Robertson (Kristen) of Englewood, CO, and Megan Robertson (Jose) of Wheat Ridge, CO.

A private family reception and memorial service for Doris were held at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.

In lieu of flowers, Doris has requested donations in her honor be made to All Saints Episcopal Church Altar Guild / Flower Fund: https://www.allsaintsloveland.org.
