Dorothy Lorraine Brewer, “Dottie”, passed peacefully at her home in Centennial Colorado on Thursday, April 30th 2015, at the age of 84. Born 1931 in Casper, Wyoming, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of Faye and Eleanor Owen. Her father worked for the railroad and they moved about the state while Dorothy was young, finally settling in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Upon graduation from high school in 1949, she left for Colorado Springs to attend school. There she met and married John Joseph Brewer in January of 1951.
The early years of their marriage were spent in various towns across the state of Colorado, as John was an installer for Western Electric. In 1958 they bought their first home and settled down in Security, Colorado. At that time they had 3 children, John Jr, Connie and Pattie. In 1960, Steve was born and the family was complete.
In 1968, John accepted employment with Mountain Bell and the family moved to Littleton, (now Centennial), Colorado where they were actively involved with the Englewood Elks. Up until February of 2015 Dottie loved her job working at the Elks, helping them balance out their cash registers on a part time basis.
Dottie spent many years working for the Littleton Kmart in the “cash cage”. Upon retirement she and John loved to travel in the motor home, fish the Blue Mesa, and party with a caravan of friends.
Dottie was a sports enthusiast. She LOVED the Broncos – one Bronco more than any other -John Elway. She also loved the Rockies and enjoyed going to Coors Field to watch them play.
Most of all, Dottie loved her friends; and she was a true friend. The friendships formed during the early years of her marriage were many and they were strengthened by the bond of shared moves from town to town. Dottie and John were active at the Englewood Elks and formed many strong friendships there.
Dottie was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, John Brewer. She is survived by her four children John Brewer Jr., Connie Maeran, Pattie Chapman, and Steve Brewer. Dottie leaves behind a legacy for her 12 grandchildren: Scott, Misty, Laura, Nicole, Lisa, Dan, Brian, CJ, Anna, Ben, Trina, and Marcel, as well as 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, Centennial
