

Dorothy L Dechant was born in Holcomb, KS 10/29/1921, the only daughter of Everett and Anna Joseph. She had two brothers, Leroy and Gilbert and grew up on a farm outside of Garden City, KS. She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Dechant and together they had five children. After moving to Aurora, CO she became a founding member of St Pius X Catholic Church and was active for years in the Alter and Rosary Society, serving as president for awhile. She loved socializing and dancing and was kept busy sewing a new dress for every party she went to. After the kids were grown she spent a good amount of time in Europe traveling with a friend and was tickled by the fact that she was served wine while shopping. She swore she was in every country in Europe, including Margaritaville. She was a 38 year survivor of breast cancer and after living a long a rewarding life it sadly ended with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She died 9/7/16 peacefully. She is survived by daughter Marlene Capelle and son-in-law Lee; son Dennis Dechant ,his wife Elly and their sons Lucas and his wife Nazan and daughter Mina, Andrew and Matthew; daughter Lisa Gray and her husband Mark and daughter Annalise. The family also includes Gary(deceased) his wife Kathy and son Jesse and daughter Sandra; and Steve(deceased) his wife Tasa, his son Ron and grandchildren Alaina and Joe and his extended family, Troy Gary and Matt.
Because of circumstances there will be no rosary or mass but the family gratefully welcomes any prayers for Dorothy. Services will be held at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd (Arapahoe and Colorado Blvd) at 11:30 September 22, 2016, followed by lunch in the dining area there. We invite all relatives and friends who wish to honor and celebrate her life to join us.
