

Elaine Tacinas, beloved mother, Yiayia, great-Yiayia, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 97. She was born on March 21, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, and spent her early years in the Midwest before making her home in Colorado.
In 1951, Elaine married the love of her life, Nicholas Tacinas, and they began their journey together in Denver, where they raised their two sons, George and Christopher. Elaine was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family at the center of her life. She retired from Denver Public Schools, where she worked as a secretary, a role that allowed her to serve her community and touch many lives over the years.
After her retirement, Elaine and Nick realized their dream of moving to Grand Lake, where she found peace and contentment in her beautiful home. Grand Lake became the place where she could embrace her love of the mountains and enjoy precious time with her family.
Elaine’s passions were many. She had a love for baseball, was a loyal Denver Broncos fan, and was an expert at knitting and crocheting. But above all, she adored her family, especially her role as a Yiayia. She was deeply proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her love for them was immeasurable.
Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nicholas Tacinas; her son, George Tacinas; and her grandson, Sean Tacinas. She is survived by her son, Christopher Tacinas of Grand Lake, her grandson, Nick Tacinas, and her granddaughters, Elizabeth Tacinas, Stephanie Vigil (Aaron Vigil), and Alexandria Tacinas. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Bella, Aaron, and Zayn Vigil, who brought her endless joy in her final years.
Elaine will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love that will continue to inspire her family for generations to come.
