

Gerald was born June 24th, 1935, in Orchard, Nebraska. He was the second of three children born to Allen and Louise Hill. He grew up in Orchard among a large extended family in the area and many lifelong friends. He graduated president of his class at Orchard High School in 1952.
Immediately after graduating, Gerald and a friend took a train to Washington, D.C., where they both found jobs with the FBI.
At his parents’ pleading, Gerald returned to Orchard in August 1953 and then attended Wayne State college about 70 miles east of Orchard. He graduated in 1955 and later earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 1961.
Gerald married Joan Davis in Omaha, Nebraska on March 3rd, 1962. They had two sons, Michael and Thomas and were married 63 years before Joan's passing in August of 2025.
Gerald started work as an investigator with the Wage & Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor in 1961. He worked his way up to the position of Area Director of the Division’s Denver office and retired in 1992. He also served a term as president of the Federal Managers Association during the 1980’s.
Gerald was outgoing and made friends easily. He had friends he would meet regularly for breakfast and a 40-year plus group of friends he would meet for happy hour. Gerald was an avid amateur photographer and even took senior yearbook photos of the neighborhood kids. He loved a good game of golf too and used to play weekly after he retired. He and Joan also traveled extensively after he retired.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Joan and by his parents and his sister, Janeth Hill.
He is survived by his Brother Robert Hill (Elaine), his sons Michael (Ada) and Thomas, his three grandchildren Jennifer, Chrissy and Rickie, eight great grandchildren, and 19 nieces and nephews.
Gerald was well cared for during his last months by the wonderful staff at Cherry Hills Assisted Living and Memory Care and by his family and the staff at Bloom Health and Hospice Care.
Services will be held at All Souls Catholic Parish, 4950 S Logan St, Englewood, CO 80113, US, on March 28, 2026, starting with a rosary at 11:00 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:30 am. A reception is to follow in Jaeger hall.
