I remember being amazed that Gerry and Bill would be so understanding at all the ruckus of slumber parties held at their house in Park Forest. I recall both of them fondly from those early years. My condolences to the entire family

Margie and Andy-  It's weird,  I was thinking about you strongly today and then I stumbled upon this news about your mom!  Gerry was such a lovely lady and I will never forget her.  She was indeed a witty, warm, and charming, lady... and I remember she always had a compliment for me. I loved her and I am so sorry for your loss. She was a totally extraordinary lady.  I will never forget that beautiful home on University and how excited Bill was when he got his CD player!  Those two really knew how to entertain and make you feel welcome.

My parents were blessed to have bought their first home, sold by Harry Meyers, right next door to his daughter Gerry and her husband Bill in Park Forest. It was a twist of fate that has brought so much love and joy to both the Orris and Janowiak families. Us kids all  have so many happy memories of growing up together, 11 kids in all, surrounded by four loving parents. You couldn't ask for a better upbringing. Gerry is and always will be a woman of grace, beauty and strength. Thank you for blessing our lives. May you be at peace now with your dear husband Bill. You will be missed by so many, but you will live on in the hearts of those lives you touched.

I met Gerry a couple of times when in Margie's company and she struck me as "everyone's mom", sort of like Margie. She was immediately so easy to talk to. My heartfelt condolences to the entire family. My thoughts are especially with Margie and Andy whom I've known for more than 30 years.

Gerry and Bill Orris, and their whole family have been a huge part of our family from the time we were growing up in Park Forest, to the recent visits I was able to make during my tours.  We love you, and our thoughts and prayers are with you.  I know you are up there with Jim and Rosemary having a martini looking down at us.  Orris family, your are in our hearts and prayers.

Gerry was adored by many and loved by all. Her grace and beauty will live forever in our hearts and through her wonderful family for generations to come.

Gerry (and Bill) Orris were amazing, special people.  People say those things all the time, but in this case it is more than true.  Kind, caring, compassionate, giving and FUN!.  Gerry will be truly missed by so many, but the way she lived and raised her children shines on through them all.  I am blessed to have known her.

I am so sad by the passing of my beautiful mother but know she was ready to go and sing and dance with dad again.  She will be missed by many including those who helped take care of her in these past few years as she still had such beauty, grace and charm to all that knew her.   Miss you mom, Margie.

I have to say that without the support of all the Orris girls, it would have been much harder to deal with the passing of my sisters and mom.  I am truly blessed to have had Aunt Gerry in my life, although not living close to each other, but knowing I would hear from her each year, and the loving presence of her girls who came to my rescue many times in the past few years!  You taught your children well and for that, you will be forever in my heart!

We are sad to say good bye to Gerry but honored to have had the opportunity to reunite Tim with her and for myself and the kids to have met such an inspiring woman and the entire Orris family.  We'll give a toast in her honor and look forward to sharing some happy memories of Gerry this summer at the reunion.
