

Helen was born October 7th, 1931 in Longmont, Colorado to her father Robert Paul Nelson and her mother Lillie Belle (Osbough) Nelson. Helen lived as a youth in Longmont, Johnstown, and Prospect Valley, Colorado. She grew up on her parents’ farms and graduated from Prospect Valley High School in 1948. She attended accounting school, and worked for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph, Mountain Bell, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies, working her way up to nationwide accounting manager. She loved working with people and after retirement, she enjoyed working for the Colorado Rockies baseball club and other part time jobs where she could visit with people. Helen always enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, hiking, and snow and water skiing.
In 1959, the family moved to Englewood, where Helen lived for 60+ years. In 2020, Helen moved to the Gardens of Columbine assisted living in Littleton. There, she enjoyed weekly outings, card games, bingo, bible classes, and of course weekly ‘Happy Hour’. She loved and was loved by the new friends she met there, and was especially fond of the staff who helped care for her.
Helen is survived by her two sons Robert Wilcox, Randall Amundson, Grandchildren Jason Wilcox, Madison Amundson, Great Grandchildren Ariel Ott, and Kason, Jaxon, Jakob, and Jayli Wilcox, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Husband (Donald Amundson), Partner (Ray Meunier), Brothers (James, John, Kenneth, Eugene, Cecil, Paul) Sister Hazel (Stevens), and Grandson Joshua Wilcox.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 29th at 10am at Centennial Lutheran Church- Englewood, CO with a reception following. Graveside services will be held at 1pm at Fort Logan Cemetery.
